Posture and Injury Assessment

A posture and injury assessment is a structured clinical evaluation of your movement, alignment, and musculoskeletal health, designed to identify the root cause of pain or dysfunction and guide effective, targeted treatment.

Many injuries and pain conditions are poorly understood because the assessment never goes beyond the site of the symptoms. Treating a sore knee without understanding why it’s sore rarely leads to lasting results. A thorough assessment changes that.

At Ashton Sports Therapy, every treatment plan begins with a detailed assessment. We take time to understand your injury history, day-to-day demands, training load, and movement patterns before making any clinical decisions. This gives us a clear picture of what’s really going on — and what needs to change for you to recover properly.

Our assessments evaluate posture, joint range of motion, muscle strength and flexibility, movement quality, and functional performance. Where relevant, we look at sport-specific or occupation-specific movement patterns that may be contributing to the problem. The result is a diagnosis-led treatment plan that’s specific to you — not a generic protocol.

Whether you’re dealing with a new acute injury, a recurring problem that won’t fully resolve, or persistent pain with no clear cause, a structured assessment is the most effective starting point. It avoids wasted time on treatments that target the wrong thing, and gives you a clear explanation of what’s happening and what to do about it.

Your first appointment is 1 hour 15 minutes and costs £65. This covers the full consultation, assessment, and hands-on treatment in a single session.

Common issues we assess and treat include:

  • Lower back pain
  • Hip / knee / ankle pain
  • Shoulder / elbow / wrist pain
  • General sprains and strains
  • Sciatica and referred leg pain
  • Posture imbalance and postural pain
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Hamstring, quad, and calf strains
  • Overuse and repetitive strain injuries
  • Sport-specific movement dysfunction
